Angus
The Aberdeen Angus breed originated in north-east Scotland and is now the dominant beef breed in many countries. Although the dominant color of the breed is black, the recessive red color has always occured naturally within the breed. A number of breeders recognized the merit of the red cattle - greater heat tolerance, consistent performance - and herds began to form red cattle gathered from the top Aberdeen Angus herds in North America. In 1954, the Red Angus Association of America was formed, and began to register red cattle in its herd book. |

The Aberdeen Angus cattle are easy to manage, early maturing and have superior beef qualities. Angus cattle have a high carcass yield and strong marbling. The Angus are polled and this trait will be passed onto first cross calves out of honored cows. Demand for quality Aberdeen Angus beef is soaring and is reflected in the increased use by commercial beef producers.
