Charolais are medium to large framed beef cattle with a very deep and broad body, the breed has demonstrated a definite superiority in growth ability, efficient feedlot gains and in carcass cut-out values. With excellent meat conformation, especially of the valuable parts and relative late maturity they are well suited to fattening for high finished weight. |

They are wellsuited to all purpose cross breeding. The Canadian Charolais breeders have focused a great deal on improving the "maintenance" traits of the breed - lighter birthweights for easier calving, increased calf vigor, stronger maternal instinct, and better feed conversion efficiency on the range. At the same time, the breed has continued to set industry standards for feedlot performance. |
